Handmade. Recycled. Local.
At Precious Stones Jewellers, we believe that true luxury doesn't always have to cost the earth.
- Recycle: We melt down your old gold to create bespoke, handmade chains and bangles.
Instead of letting your sentimental, unworn, or broken gold sit in a drawer, our master goldsmith specialises in the art of upcycling. We take your cherished gold and hand-forge it into stunning new bangles, bracelets, and chains right here in Australia.
- Redesign: Our setters & jewellers can breath new life into your old gemstones and diamonds.
Whether it’s resetting a family diamond into a contemporary ring or creating our signature recycled gold bangle set with your own (or new) gemstones, we marry heritage with modern sustainability.
- Ethical Sourcing & Partnerships: We proudly partner with Australian-owned wedding band specialists: Becks.
Becks is a family owned and operated Adelaide based company who use ethically sourced and recycled Australian metals to ensure your wedding band will last a lifetime whilst preserving our planet for future generations.
How does it work?
Can I use my own gold to make a new piece?
Absolutely! This is our specialty! Our talented goldsmith can melt down your old, broken, or unworn gold jewellery (earrings, chains, or rings) and hand-forge it into a brand-new piece, such as a bangle, bracelet, or chain. It’s a beautiful way to keep the sentimental value of the metal while updating the style.
Can you use my existing diamonds and gemstones?
Yes. We can carefully unset diamonds and gemstones from your old settings. Once cleaned and inspected, we can design them into a completely new piece. A very popular option is setting these stones into a handmade gold bangle crafted from your recycled gold.
What if I don't have enough gold for the design I want?
Don't worry! If your old gold isn't quite enough for your dream design, we can supplement it with new gold to ensure the final piece has the required weight and durability.
How do I know I’m getting my gold back?
We treat sentimental gold with the utmost respect. Transparency is at the heart of our store, our goldsmith will do a single batch, pure melt, to ensure that your exact metal is used to forge your new piece.
Is upcycling my jewellery actually more sustainable?
Yes, significantly. By recycling existing gold and gemstones, we bypass the need for new mining. This reduces the environmental impact and gives a "circular" life to materials that have already been extracted, making it the most eco-friendly way to own fine jewellery.
How much does it cost?
If you are supplying all the gold and gemstones needed to create your new piece, then you only need to pay for our goldsmiths expertise and labour.
If there is leftover gold do you return it to me?
Yes. However, it is important to bear in mind there is always a 10-15% loss during the melt process. Don't worry though we will calculate all of this prior to going ahead so you will have a full understanding of the process and if there will be any gold remaining to return to you. Alternatively, if you do not want your leftover gold we can trade this against the labour charges.
Do you offer ethical options for new wedding bands?
We certainly do. We partner with a premier Australian owned and operated wedding band company: Becks. They share our values, using Australian metals that are both ethically sourced and recycled, ensuring your "forever" ring aligns with your values.
